Welcome to an Abundant Life

My name is Dragon Xu. Yes... Dragon is my real name. It's the English translation of my Chinese name 徐文龙.

The purposes of this site are to:

• Inspire you to make Financial Freedom one of your life goals. Most people are not Financially Free, because they never tried. It wasn't even on their radar. Financial Freedom is not out of your reach. If you make it a goal and priority... Most likely you'll achieve it. 

• Share some ideas and strategies I've found helpful in building wealth. Used properly... these tools can help you become debt free, quit your job and become financially free. 

• Guide you on the path leading to an Abundant Life. Money is required to live in this world. But... If you think more money will make your life full of joy, peace and fulfillment, you'll be disappointed. More important than how to become Financially Free is how to have life, and have it more abundantly.  

Sharing this knowledge is my contribution in trying to make the world a better place. I have no abilities or patience in taking care of orphans or the elderly, but... money is something I have patience for. In God's great plan, I believe there is a place for financial analysts alongside the Lord's other humble servants. 

But first, I’d like to share with you my journey to an ABUNDANT LIFE.

A day earlier, my business partner fled the country taking all the money from our company bank account with her. Our sales reps didn’t care who took the money. They wanted to be paid their commission. I was alone to face their wrath. They wanted their money, or they would take it out of my hide.

It was March 1998 and China was like the wild west. I thought about fleeing China too, but a small voice inside told me… NO. I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life running and hiding. 

To make a long story short, I paid the sales reps from my savings. It was far from the total amount owed, but it was my best effort. I was foreigner in China, 34 years old with a wife and two small boys… and now broke.

Broken maybe a more accurate description. Losing a large sum of money and losing my business was painful. Two things I treasured and built my identity on were gone. It felt like a dearly loved family member had died. I mourned. I was broken hearted, emotionally drained and exhausted.

This is when my friend John shared with me words written over 2000 years ago…

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28)

This caught my attention. Whoever wrote these words knew exactly how I was feeling… weary and burdened. I needed relief. I wanted rest for my soul.

Here’s some more from this ancient book… 

Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:25~33 ESV)

Hmmm… seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. I was broke, no job and had a family to feed. Here was a ray of hope. 

April 1998, I decided to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. I can testify these words written over two thousand years ago are true. God has “added to” me and my family in ways beyond my imagination. God has abundantly met all my needs and blessed me with more than I dreamed of. His blessings are not limited to material wealth, but also include opportunities, friendships, amazing experiences, peace, joy and more. 

You may have already guessed it. The book I’ve been referring to, written over two thousand years ago, is the Bible. The man who spoke the words above is Jesus. 

God, your creator, is your father in heaven. Like any father, he wants the very best for you, his child. God wants you to have an Abundant Life. That’s why God sent Jesus. God said so himself.

In the Bible, Jesus says…

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10b ESV)

In April 1998, I was broke and broken. The promises: Rest for a weary and burdened soul, All these things added to you and an Abundant Life motivated me to begin seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve seen God’s promises come true in my life.
