How Come Everyone Is Not Rich?
Before sharing these principles for accumulating wealth, I want to answer a question I hear often.
- If you can get rich by following certain principles, how come everyone is not rich?
The answer is:
You will absolutely accumulate wealth following these principles. The problem is… most people are not aware of these wealth-building principles.
Common advice to young people about money is, “Study hard, get good grades and get a good job”.
It’s been repeated so often by teachers, parents, aunts and uncles that it’s commonly mistaken “getting a job” is the solution to life’s financial problems. This kind of thinking is wrong.
Your Job Alone is Not Enough
Your job by itself will not lead to financial freedom.
Reason #1
The amount of money you can make from your job is limited.
Your job requires you to trade your time and energy for a paycheck. Since the amount of time in a day is limited, the amount you can earn from your job is limited. Even if you work overtime everyday, your income is limited because time is a limited resource.
Reason #2
Your income is dependent upon going to work each day.
If you stop going to work, your paycheck stops.
For security and real freedom, you need sources of income not dependent on going to work each day. You need sources of income that pay you regular paychecks whether you are in the office, at home or vacationing by the beach.
Most people are not even aware that it is possible to earn income that doesn’t require going to work each day.
Reason #3
Earned Income (salary from your job) is the highest taxed form of income. You know from experience, federal taxes, state taxes and social security take a big bite out of your paycheck.
Other forms of income are taxed at lower rates. Lower taxes mean you get to keep more of your money for yourself.
Reason #4
You can’t rely on your job. The days of “Job Security” are over.
The only thing you can be certain of about your job is… one day your job will end. It might be sooner or it might be later, but one day your job will end along with the paycheck associated with your job.
How are you going to support your family and pay your bills if you don’t have a job?
You need to prepare in advance for the day your job ends, it’s coming.

The most important lesson from Noah is he didn't wait until it started to rain before building the Ark. If he had waited…it would have been too late. The same is true for your Financial Plan. If you wait until a rainy day to start your financial plan, it's too late!
